The inspiration for 3 Sisters Services comes from a desire to create an organization that helps neighbors and local community members balance home, health, garden and technology needs. Cataumet Corner was a name we had been using to refer to the initiative, but we couldn't in good conscience name our initiative with a word that few people, even locals can pronounce. Necessity is the mother of invention, so our thoughts focussed on our mission and on the kind of ethos with which we wish to imbue 3 Sisters Services. Our Three Sisters Muse is inspired by several stories:

- Clearly the local Native American custom of companion planting squash, corn, and beans, known as 'the three sisters' was on our minds as we planted these three staples this summer. It was not lost on us that these three plants sustained that native americans and the colonists who came later.
- Initially, the desire to want to help others with their burdens and navigate the complexities of by a story of the three Caribbean sisters who created a safe-haven in the remote jungle to wayfarers seeking food, clothing and shelter in the mountainous jungle. Fortunately, my neighbors don't face such grave challenges, but everyone has their struggles. For many Americans the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness is threatened by disease related to modern sedentary and solitary habits and diets with highly processed foods.

- Community Networking: Linking neighbors to volunteers, volunteer opportunities, and local vendors you can trust.
